Long before the written word, ancient cave dwellers adorned the walls of Lascaux with vibrant pigments, etching their lives into the stone—primitive yet profound snapshots of a world we can only imagine. Over 6,000 drawings of animals, human figures, and abstract signs adorned this earliest form of social media, capturing the essence of existence in a way that transcends time. Yet, as a photographer, I stand on the shoulders of these early storytellers, wielding not a brush but a lens to freeze moments of our modern world in a reality so vivid it would leave those ancient artists in awe.
My work is a dance between light and shadow, a narrative woven through the transient beauty of both the human spirit and the natural world. I am an interpreter of the intangible, capturing fleeting emotions and immortalizing them within the timeless embrace of nature. Each photograph invites you to pause, to reflect on the delicate balance between our fleeting existence and the enduring world we inhabit.
Picture a moonlit night, where a tranquil village by the sea is bathed in silver light, the waves whispering secrets to the shore. A mother and child sharing a quiet embrace, their solitude filled with a deep, unspoken reassurance. Children's faces painted in light with a joyful laughter as they play. Or the silent tears on the weathered face of a grandmother, immersed in the tender sorrow of memories as she lingers among the gravestones of her loved ones in a solemn cemetery.
These moments are the lifeblood of my art—unfiltered, raw connections that transcend words and speak to the very core of our shared humanity. Through my lens, I seek to evoke empathy, provoke introspection, and remind us of the incredible power that lies within our shared stories.
My work is a testament to the interconnectedness of life, urging viewers to look beyond the surface and into the heart of our collective experience. I hope to foster a profound appreciation for the shared memories of our past and the boundless possibilities of our future.
My grandfather, an enthusiastic photographer who faced life’s challenges with unwavering positivity, passed down to me not just his Pentax SLR camera but also his enduring spirit. It was 1994, a year before he left us, and that camera became the lens through which I began to see the world. Today, I am also deeply influenced by my wife, whose Romanian heritage introduced me to the rich tapestry of culture and diversity, and by my children, who continuously inspire me to see the world with fresh eyes.
Born and raised in Novi, Michigan, I grew up balancing my time between academics, as a member of the National Honor Society, and athletics on the high school track team. My passion for learning led me to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, cum laude, followed by a Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan's Rackham School of Graduate Studies.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me skiing down snowy slopes, mountain biking through rugged trails, piloting a plane, or exploring new cultures and languages during family travels. What began as a hobby in 1994 has evolved into a lifelong pursuit of capturing the world’s beauty, one frame at a time. Today, with my Nikon D800 in hand, I continue to push the boundaries of my craft, perfecting my techniques in lighting, clarity, and post-processing with Lightroom and Photoshop.
